OBITUARY
MR W. COPESTAKE. News of tin* sudden death of Mr AY. Oopestake at the Whangarei Public Hospital was received hi Portland with deep regret. Arriving in New Zealand from England I’O years ago, he had been in the service of AYilsons Cement Co., as an electrician, both at AA’arkworth and at Portland. His cheerful and happy disposition gained him many friends. Known to his intimates as Curly, lie was very much liked and respected by all. Ho did not take a prominent part, in social or public affairs, but was willing to help in hi-s own quiet way. He look a keen interest in the local Soccer and cricket clubs, and was a mem* ber of the Portland- Tennis Club. The death of Iris wife 14 months ago affected him very much and he had not quite got over it. The sympathy of the whole township goes nut to his Httje boy, aged ten, who has been loft without father or mother in .such a short time.
A tribute fo the high esteem in which Mr Copeslake was held was evidenced by the large attendance of ears which followed tin* cortege to the (graveside at the Otaika cemetery. A large number of wreaths and flowers covered the collin. The Oddfellows’ Podge conducted a graveside <service.
