NEW ZEALAND FINANCES. POUND’S LOWER VALUE. ADVERSE COMMENT. (Received 0 a.m.) LONDON, August 15. A statement of New Zealand’s finances has just been issued by the High Commissioner, Sir Thomas Wilford. Commenting on it, the City Editor of the “Daily Express” says the depreciation of the pound admittedly was an arbitrary step, designed to help the primary producer of New Zealand, but the statements plainly indicate that the present rate is more uneconomic than even the banks which opposed the change last January then thought it would prove to be.
