BUSINESS QUIETER, j (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. At the first call this morning the market tone was a little quieter anil only three sales were recorded. Bidding was steady, with late rallies generally sustained. In the banking section, New Zealands were in especial demand and buyers went to £2 9/ to secure requirements. This is the highest price realised for these shares since November, 1931. Pastoral scrip was in firm request, and buyers for Loan and Mercantile stock raised their offers to £4O. Buyers for ' Farmers’ Trading advanced to 3/3 for the ordinary shares and to 10/6 for the A preferences. There was rather more inquiry for Government stocks and buyers offered £IOO 10/ for the 1946 and 1949 issues. A parcel of 1955’s was available at £99,15A
