Play was desultory after the intermission, until the Kaeo forwards broke away in a dribbling rush, Smith finally picking the bull up and diving over the lino. S. Taniora made no mistake with the kick. Kaeo wore on the defensive for some time after this, but Anderson at full-back, and Johns saved the situation time and again. Finally from a scrum near midfield the ball went to S. Taniora, who

cut-in and after a brilliant run passed to Johns; who dashed over the line to score a pretty try. The attempt to convert was unsuccessful. Oruru made determined attempts to equalise the score, and several times all but succeeded, but time was sounded with the score still 11—0 in Kaeo’s favour. There can be • no doubt that Oruru were extremely unlucky not to win this match, of which Mr A . H. Dane was referee. It is difficult to single out any of the Oruru forwards, but in the backs Garton, Kelsall and Harrison played well. In the Kaco forwards W. Taniora and Missen were conspicuous, while in the backs John and 8. Taniora were always noticeable. Banner points are a.s follows; — Points
