LIQUOR FOR NATIVES
DALMATIAN FINED. (Special to “Northern Advocate,”) DARGAVILLE, This Day. Charges of supplying liquor to natives and manufacturing wine, without a license, was made against a Dalma tian farmer. Joseph Vuletich, in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr G. N. Morris, S.M. It was stated that Yuletich, who shortly intends taking a trip to his own country, constructed a cellar to store a quantity of wine he had manufactured. Relief workers who were cleaning the drains near Vuletich’s farm were engaged to help in putting barrels in the cellar, and included in the gang were some natives Vuletich gave the men wine and some became intoxicated. Vuletich pleaded that he had not sold the wine and did not know that it was .an offence to supply native 1 with liquor. His reason for not tak ing out a license this year was that he was leaving the district. He had supplied liquor to the men for the assistance they had. given. The magistrate, in finding Vuletich an amount, including costs, of £l3 2/, said he would take into consideration the fact that he had not sold the Tyine.
