Yarnall, who on first count is elected to the Auckland City Council, does not appear on the city electoral, roll, and the question has arisen whether he cap be declared elected.
Mr P. F. Notley, city returning officer, said this morning that Mr Yarnall's name had not been included on the roll, but that if in the official count he remained in the first 21, he (Air Notley) would declare him elected. “1 have his application form/' he said, “but received it too date to have his name placed on the roll. It is for others to take [he necessary stops to upset the election if they think tit, after the declaration of the poll.”
BARE MAJORITIES. TWO CASES RECORDED. A majority of one was recorded at the Mayoral polls at Otaki and Stratford, At Otaki, C. S, At more received 488 votes against T. O’Rourke, 187. At Stratford, J. W. McMillan defeated Percy Thomson (sitting Mayor) by a margin of only one vote. The official recounts are proceeding.
