MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS

TIMETABLE ALTERATION.

■A QUICKER SERVICE.

CSpeeial to "Northern Advocate."> fSpedal to “Norther/' Advocate.")

AUCKLAND, This Day,

The decision of the Railways Board to alter from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. the departure time of the Main Trunk express from Wellington to Auckland was announced by Mr H. H. Sterling, chairman of the board, in a statement this

morning,

“The time of arrival at Auckland under the new schedule will be 7.d a.m.,” said Mr Sterling. “This will make the total running time between Wellington and Auckland 32 minutes loss than under the present schedule. This has been made possible by the varying incidence associated with single-line working, which will enable a better schedule to be obtained with the 3 o’clock departure than was possible under the timetable that is at present operating.”
