The president, Mr 11. W. Davies, in extending a welcome to the members and visitors, expressed appreciation of the number of young people present, and instanced the fact that one of their junior members last season won two of tlio best trophies In. open competition against all comers.

His Worship the Mayor, Mr W. .Tones, opened the .season by tiring the first shot in conjunction with Mrs N. C. .Shepherd, each incidentally scoring a bull's-eve.

Mr Jones said that he was surprised and delighted to find such a large throng, including a good sprinkling of ladies. He endorsed the president's remarks and recommended parents to encourage their youth to adopt the pastime of shooting and attend the club's meetings. He pointed out that the lesson learned in straight shooting was a great factor in later life.

A handicap shoot was the programme of the evening, 87 members taking part, including eight ladies. The men's section resulted in ,T. Id I ley and F. 'Archer tieing. In the count back .T.’ Lilfey was declared the winner, with F, Arc.her second, S. Withers third, and E. A. Higgins fourth.
