JJ ARBOUR ' BOARD ELECTION TO THE BOROUGH ELECTORS Ladies and Gentlemen — Having considerable property in the Borough ami being concerned in safeguarding the interests of the town, we decided to consent to nomination for the two Borough seats on the Harbour Board. We realise that with good management the harbour will become this town’s greatest asset, and if favoured with your confidence we Avill support a policy embodying the following; — (a) Construction of road from the Borough boundary to the port at Kioreroa without delay under the direction of the Public Works Department and at no cost to the townspeople. (b) Vigorous prosecution of the work of stop-banking, draining and reading the endowment tidal lands of the harbour for the making of small farms, in order that a lasting and increasing asset will be created and that permanent homes and occupation may i be found for our local landless and Avorkless people, this work to be carried out by the Public Works Department at the cost of the Unemployment Board. (c) The promotion of bunkering of overseas steamers and other coal trade at the wharf recently completed at Kioreroa. ; (d) The discontinuance of new work in the harbour involving capital expenditure, in order that the collection of a rate over the district will become unnecessary at the earliest possible date.
