PERUVIAN OUTRAGE SEVERAL SHOT WOUNDS PRECAUTIONS UNAVAILING. ASSAILANT’S SPEEDY DOOM. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 29.
Despatches from Limn, Pern, state that the President, of the Republic, General Luiz VI. Sanchez Co mi, was assassinated there today. The outrage was perpetrated soon after the President had reviewed a parade of 20,000 young men in the Jorge Chavez Park. The assassin, Abolardo de Me.ndo.za, fired several shots into General C.cn'o’s body as the executive party, started .to drive away from the park. , The, victim died later.
The assassin himself was killed by the Presidential guards. The attack was so sudden that the elaborate precautions which had been taken to protect the President wore unavailing. General Oscar R. Benavides was chosen tonight to .succeed to the Presidency,
