SIR C. KINGSFORD SMITH’S , INTEREST.

i Special to "Nnrtbt,n Advocate’")

DUNEDIN, Thursday

In October next, it is hoped by Mr. IT. M. MaCkay, managing director of New Zealand Airway’s, that a Dominion air service, linking up the principal centres as far south as Christchurch, and possibly' Timaru, will be in operation. Three machines, one of which has already been bought in Sydney for the company, would, he said, be used, and it was hoped this would eventually be the foundation of a regular transTasman air line.

The passenger aeroplane, Southern Sky, which has been purchased, was of the type specially' recommended by Sir C. Kingston! Smith as being most suitable for lhe service. Sir Charles was identifying himself with the scheme, in which he would be financially interested. lie would also take a position on the directorate of the company. He and Captain I'. G. Taylor, co-pilot on the Tasman Might, had announced their intention of assisting in the inauguration of the service.

It was probable, Mr Mackaq ‘'concluded, that the Southern Sky, piloted by Captain Taylor and accompanied by the Southern Cross, would My across the Tasman.
