-Another well-bred English sire will be available in Canterbury next, breed-ing-season. This is the. 12-year-old Magnus, who has boon secured for the Stonyhurst stud by Sir Charles Clifford from his cousin, Captain Charles Moore, of the Morosfort stud, a wellknown Irish stud -in Tipperary. Magnus is by the unbeaten grey horse, Tctrarch (sire of Chief Euler and Tea Tray), from Princess Dorrie, by Your Majesty from Doris. He was bred by Mr J. P>. Joel, and represents some of the most successful blood in his stud. Princees Dorrie won The Thousand Guineas and Oaks, and is a half-sister to Snnstar, winner of The Two Thousand Guineas and Derby, while the Persimmon horse, Your Majesty, sire of Princess Don-re, is a St. Legor win-

Magnus did a little racing and won a mile event at Newmarket as a three-year-old. He had several seasons at Captain Moore’s .stud in Ireland, where he left some promising stock. He is expected to arrive here -about September, and. should be a valuable addition to the breeding stock of the Dominion.

TOR AUSTRALIA. INVERCARGILL HORSES. TEAM OP TEN GOING. (.Special to “Northern Advocate.”) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Invercargill owner, Mr W. T. Hazlett, has completed arrangements for racing his team in Australia. F. J. McKay will leave Bluff on May S for Melbourne, probably with about ten horses under his care. The three horses Mr Hazlett. raced at Riecarton this week. Ruling Light, Strong Light and Chief Light, tvill not be in the party, which tvill include the steeplechasers Paris and Taramoe, also the two-year-olds Dazzling Raid, by Night Raid from Dazzling Light, -Sir Simper, ,by Grand Night, from Simper, and Kindly Light, by Chief Ruler from Razzle Dazzle, and several older horses, some of them maidens. It is intended to race the team in Melbourne during the winter. The two-year-olds are In the principal classic events in Australia in the spring, and if they go on all right the horses will remain in the Commonwealth for the big spring meetings in Sydney and Melbourne.

SALE OF YEARLINGS. DEALINGS IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, April IS. At the yearling sale of thoroughbreds today bidding was fairly brisk for the progeny of Brazen, seven of which realised 2.420 guineas, and averaged 345 guineas. A brown colt by Pantheon brought 1,100 guineas, as did a colt by Constant Sun. Several Magpie colts made 450 to .800 guineas.
