By winning the basketball points, Victoria wrested the title hold by Auckland since the competition was included seven years ago. The points were: —Victoria I, Auckland 2, Otago 1, Canterbury (1. The* annual cricket match between Victoria College (Wellington) ami Auckland University resulted in a draw after a splendid second innings performance hy the visitors. The Wellingtonians had made only 51 on Saturday, the home eleven replying with 203. Victoria came to light with 295 at the end of their 'knock. This left Auckland ■with 142 to score to win, but when stumps were drawn they were still nine runs short of the required number with four wickets in hand. The feature of the match was the fine total of .142 by Osborne, and an invaluable opening innings by Blandtord who had "bagged" a pair in the .Tannary ’ Plimket Shield game at Eden Park.
