KARA-KOKOPU

School Pupils’ Concert,
A gaily ond tastefully decorated hall and stage, and a merry company, greeted the many patrons who attended the. annual concert given by the pupils of the combined pupils of Kara and Kokopu schools on Friday evening. The versatile programme was well presented and the children’s performance gave evidence of caveful and able coaching by their teachers, Mrs Brewer and Mr J. ‘Wilson.
The programme was as follows; — National Anthem; chorus, “Billy Boy,” combined pupils; sketch, “The Trunk,” C. Fay, W. Luke, Alex McKinley and G. Beynokls; song, “The Night Eiders,” Kokopu pupils; recitation, “Five Little Pussy Cats,” Mabel Courtney; dance, “Springtime,” Kara girls (six); duet, “Weeping Willow Tree,” Laura and Annie Heta; recitation, “Inky Bill,” Alex. McKinley; item ‘‘ Three Questions, ’’ .1. Wilkinson, A. Coe and Maurice Kokieh; song, “Robin Adair,” Kara pupils; recitation, “Strategy,” Olga Kokich; step dance (reel), Alice and Ruth Watts; chorus, “Hearts of Oak,” combined pupils; piano solo, Miss Reynolds; song, “Ye Gentle Warblers,” combined girls; recitation, “Wo-o-o-ow!” Neville Fay; Dutch dance, Rose and Ettie Attwood; song, “E Pari Ra,” Kokopu pupils; recitation, “Apple Dumplings,” Don Cameron; sketch, “High Flying,” Jennie McKinley, Rose Attwood and Willie Luke; song, “A Little Peach,” Kokopn pupils; recitation, “De Little Black Coon,” Tom Attwood; duet, “Two Little Girls in Blue,” Laura and Annie Heta; folk dance, Kara pupils; Maori haka, combined boys; chorus, “Rio Grande,” combined pupils. The chairman, Mr A. Walker, presented proficiency certificates to Harriet Watts, Rose Attwood, Ettie Attwood, Carmen Fay, Jack Wilkinson, and George Reynolds (competency).
Good attendance certificates were awarded to Kttie Attwood, flora At.wood, .Jennie McKinley, Gillian McKinley, Alex McKinley, Maurice KoInch and Joseph Garton.
Mr Wilson, on behalf of Mrs Brewer anti himself, thanked all present for tTTeir support, and a vote of thanks and appreciation to the teachers, moved by Mr Carter, was carried with hearty acclamation.
A good supper and a jolly dance completed an enjoyable function.
