Tlio weather is fine and there is a fair attendance for the second day of the Christchurch Jockey Club’s meeting, which is being held at Eicearton today. The track is fast. Eesults: —
Middleton Handicap, of 150 so vs; nine furlongs.—(lo) Morepork, 9.0, 1; (9) Juniper, 9.13, 2; (5) Eiri, 9.11, 3. Chiekwheat and The Sun were scratched. Won by half a length. Time—--1.54 3-5.
Invell Handicap, of ,150 sovs; four furlongs (for two-year-olds).—(I) Guarantee, 8.9, 1; (2) Fracas, 7.9, 2; (2) Counterplay, 7.9, 3. Won by a length. Time, 48 l-ss. Fracas and Counterplay were coupled on the machine.
Criterion Handicap, of 250 sovs; seven furlongs—(l). Merry Peel, S.O, 1; (8) Wise Choice, 7.0, 2; (3) La Poupee, 7.4, 3. Autopay was scratched. Won by a length. Time —1.25 1-5.
