FREEZING DISPUTE
NEW TEEMS OPEEATE. EESENTMENT AT ISLINGTON. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) CHETSTCHUECH, This Day. Now terms and conditions were enforced at Canterbury freezing works today, and as a result no union men except firemen and greasers accepted work this morning at the New Zealand Refrigerating Company’s works at Islington.
Work was carried on as usual at Borthwick and Sons’ works and at the Canterbury frozen meat works, which are both at (Belfast. A majority of the men at these two places are permanent hands, and little killing was carried out. A total of 100 men is involved at Islington. WOEKEES’ SIDE EXPLAINED. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) HAMILTON, This Day. About 50 unemployed men at Ngaruawahia. were given an account of the workers’ side of the freezing dispute by M,r U. 11. Sutherland, secretary of the Horotui branch of the Freezing AVorkers' Union, this mornin gMr Sutherland outlined the events leading np to the strike and explained the conditions under which tho men were expected to work under the new scale of wages. A resolution was passed 'sympathising with the strikers, ami offering full support in respect of freezing workers’ efforts to resist wages cuts.
Itising out of the discussion on tin* position, it wns decided to establish a branch of tl»e unemployed workers’ movement at Ngaruawahia.
