WIRELESS PATROL

A SUGGESSFUL GHASE. SYDNEY, October 20. The north wireless patrol, Avhieh was instituted lavo days ago to operate in the northern suburbs, in conjunction Avith the two patrols on the Sydney side of the harbour, proA'od its Avorth yesterday afternoon at Greenwich, where, after an exciting chase, a man, suspected of robbery, Avas captured. During the chase the police fired a shot, Avhieh materially aided their efforts.

While the patrol, consisting of Constable Pollock, operator Hoile, and driver Whiteman, under DetoctiA-e-Sergeant Allmond, Avas in Gore Street, a man Avas seen to run into Gore Street from Ghisholm Street. He Avas lost sight of for a feAv moments. He Avas then seen running in the direction of a deej) gorge. The patrol Avas halted, Hoile jumped out and gave chase, calling on the man to stop. Pollock followed. He, 100, called out to the man to stop. The orders being unheeded. Pollock drew his revolver and tired a shot into the air. The man then threw something away into thick bush, and continued his flight. By this time, however, he was becoming exhausted. He was soon overtaken. As soon as the man had been secured, the police began a search for the parcel, Avhieh Avas eventually found. It contained jewellery, including a watch and a bangle.

The man was eventually taken to the North Sydney Police Station and charged Avith having goods in custody reasonably suspected of having been stolen.
