With a joint call for the election of the Democrat “ticket,” the Governor of Now York, Air Franklin Roosevelt, and Air Alfred Smith, e\'-Governor, formally closed the Democrat campaign this evening. Air Roosevelt said ho believed the best interests of the country required a change in the Administration. He said the programme he had laid down was tho programme of a party which realised that “every one of onr people is' entitled to an opportunity to earn a‘ living. This evening we sot our seal upon that programme. “After Tuesday,” said Mr Roosevelt, “wo shall go forward to tho groat task of this accomplishment, and, wo trust, of its fulfilment.” Air Smith said the record of the Republican Party failed to show that it would be aide to give an account of its stewardship for tho last four years. HOOVER TENETS. MEASURES “WINNING OUT.” DANGERS AVERTED. (Received t) a.m.) NEW YORK, November 5. Tho President, Mr Hoover, today carried his campaign for re-election at tho poll to be taken on Tuesday into the heart of Wisconsin, the homo of the Progressive Republicans. Air Hoover told the huge audience in tho arena at Aladison that with the economic advances now in evidence there should be no interruption in the policies that had brought this about. Describing w r orld conditions, the President said the Administration’s measures had averted dangers which would have meant tragedy for generations. Tho records showed that men were returning to work at the rate of 500,000 a month. He asserted that tho Republicans’ measures were “winning out.”
