HUKERENUI
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Ou Friday last the Huia Hockey Club held a monster Guy Fawkes dance lu the Town! hall. One of the largest crowds that has ever attended a dance in that hall gathered to make merry. The committee had arranged for one free bus to run from Whaugaroi, but, on being informed that one bus would not hold all the intending passengers, the committee arranged for an extra one. It is regretted that even two buses could not pick up all those wishing to attend the dance, and some people were left behind. From the start, everything went; with a swing, a particularly happy atmosphere prevailing. The music was exceptionally good. much greater number than had been anticipated was present, and the committee regret that the supper, which would have been plentiful otherwise, was rather short. However, there Avill be plenty next time for the largest of attendances. Many of the visitors had never been to Towai before, and they so enjoyed themselves that they urged the committee to hold another dance. The hall had been decorated in the club's colours. The floor had received careful attention, and all who co-operated to make the dance such a, huge success were fully rewarded, not only by the dancers' appreciation, but also by the financial benefit J:o the club’s funds, which, previously low, were substantially increased. Special thanks are duo to Mr T. Hutchins, of JTukerenui, who sold the tickets and look charge of the money, Mr A. Lynch, who acted as' doorkeeper, also deserves (hanks for a. task that is generally regarded as simple, but which is tedious and tiring. Mr L. Id. Falls made an excellent M.G.
