FRONTIER DEFENCE LINE
FRENCH FORTIFICATIONS. FORMIDABLE GROUPS. (Received 11.30 a.m. ) PARIS, November 3. The essential parts of the new fortifications along the Rhine arc practically completed. They consist of a series of concrete "pill-boxes placed in clumps of ten at every point where it might bo possible for a hostile army to cross the river. The armaments consist of light artillery and machine guns.
The new defence works along the Lorraine frontier are equipped with heavy guns and will take two or more years to complete.
