Showery conditions prevailed before the opening event of the second day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s spring meeting, postponed from Labour Day, and the first event was delayed for half an hour. There is a fair attendance and the track is holding. Results: —

Green Lane Handicap, of 105 sovs; one mile and a half. — (1) Nell Yolo, 2-tyds (F. Smith), 1; (2) Win Huon, GOyds (Lee), 2; (4) Hue Coronado, 84 yds (W. Hoginbotham), 3. All started. Won by a length and a half, head between second and third horses. Time —3.44 4-5,

Newmarket Handicap, of 105 sovs; one mile and a quarter. — (5) Nellota, ser (Smith), 1; (4) Stormy Mack, 24 yds (Broughton), 2; (10) Worthy Chief, ser (Grirnmond), 3. Triquest was scratched. Won by three-quarters of a length; third horse two lengths further away. Time—2.s9.

Labour Day-Handicap, of 225 sovs; two miles. —(1) Direct Morning, 3Gyda (Cockbill), 1; (3) Brentlight, ser (coupled with Real Girl and Peter Pirate), (R. D. Kennerley), 2; (2) First Flight, 36yds (G. T. Mitchell, Junr.), 3. Arabond, Kewpie’s Triumph and Pageant were scratched. Won by a neck; two and a half lengths between second and third horses. Time —4.42 2-5.

Junction Handicap, of 105 sovs; one mile and a half.—(s) Margaret Wallace 12yds (G, Phipps), 1; (1) Realty, 48yds (E. S. Groat), 2; (3) Pukemiro, 48yds (F. Y. Butts), 3. Homeward was scratched. Novice Handicap, of 100 sovs; one mile and a half.— (1) War Officer, ser, 1; (2) Desert Maiden, ser, 2; (4) Iron Man, ser, 3. Gun Metal and Max Havoc were scratched. Won by a length and a half; Iron Man three lengths further away. Time, 3.33. October Handicap, of 200 sovs; two miles. —(4) Arabond, 12yds, 1; (1) Nelson’s Yietory, 24yds, 2; (2) Sir Guy, 30yds, 3. Purser was scratched. Won by a neck; Sir Guy a head further back. Time —4.36 2-5.

New Zealand Cup Trial Handicap, of 300 so vs; one mile and a quarter.—(l) Harold Logan, 36yds, 1; (2) Red Shadow, 24yds, 2; (G) King Pointer, scr, 3. Terence Dillon and Royal Silk were scratched. Won by half a head; length and throe-quarters between second and third horses. Timo ; — 1.14 2-5.

Second Hurdles, of 70 so vs; one mile and a half. —(7) Eongo, 9.0, 1; (1) Kimbo, 9.8, 2; (2) Manifesto, 10.9, 3. All started. Won by a length and a quarter; two lengths between second and third horses. Time —2.45 1-5.

Juvenile Stakes, of 60 sovs; five furlongs.—(l) Good Hunting, 8.8, 1; (3) Grand Sport, 8.1, 2; (5) Summerhiß 8.1, 3. All started. Won by a neck; a length between second and third horses. Time —1.15 1-5. AUSTRALIAN RACING. WEATHER FINE. TRAINING NOTES. (Received Noon.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Aveather is fine with a slight breeze for the races. On the grass at Flemington this morning Mulera ran a mile in 1.46.]. Chatham did the best three furlongs in 37sec, the first two taking 241 sec. Manawhenua and Horowhenua covered three furlongs in 39sec. Admiral Drake beat Vyehan over ten furlongs in 2.151. Shadow King ran eleven furlongs in 2.37. Spontoon and Walter Scott assisted over the last mile which took 1.50). Shadow King ran his last six furlongs in 1.22. Loughneagh did the best two furlongs in 24:1. Compromise strode over a furlong in 131. Tlowford and Cassiopeia ran a. mile in 1.48. At Caulfield, on the sand, Lady Pam and Actaeon covered seven furlongs in 1.34. Gaine Carrington, Peter Jackson and Splutter traversed two furlongs in 25sec. Winooka, on the grass, Hid the beat three furlongs in 373 sec, and Rogilia reached the end of two furlongs in 25sec.
