CAR OVERTURNS

NARROW ESCAPE OF TWO MEN,

(Per Press Association.—Copyright.) NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. Two moil had a miraculous escape from death on Wednesday evening when a motor car in which they were driving- overturned and pinned them beneath it. They escaped with minor injuries.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Dawson and Vivian Streets. The ear skidded into the kerb and turned a somersault, landing with its wheels in the air against a stone wall. The .windscreen was smashed, the hood crumpled levej with the ton of the body, and the steering wheel forced into the body of the. car.

The vehicle was driven by Mr L. <T. Tracey, of Huinga, with Mr A. It. Simmons, of Westown, as a passenger. With all this damage it seemed impossible that the two occupants should escape uninjured, yet they suffered only a. few cuts about the hands from broken glass. The radiator was buckled and the mudguards crumpled, •while one headlight was smashed and the petrol tank w r as punctured.
