OBITUARY

AIR F. W. WAKI

Tlio dcntli occurred on Wednesday of Mr Frederick Win. Wake, of Reranera, Anekland, a well-known member of the legal profession, who had resided in Auckland for the past 10 years. The late Mr Wake was born in Australia 70 years ago and when a child was brought to New Zealand by his parents. His school days were spent in Canterbury, where he afterwards qualified ns a barrister and solicitor.

The late Mr Wake was a. widower and is survived, by one son, Mr Barry C. Wake, of the legal firm of Thompson and Wake, Hamilton, and one daughter, Mrs D. Poison, of Auckland. The funeral, which was private, took place at Hillsborough Cemetery yesterdav afternoon.

about SO years ago on the sailing ship Ann. Ho was born at tho Chatham Barracks, Ireland, and was tho son of the late Mr and Mrs John Martin. His parents settled at Otahnlui. As a youth, Mr Martin served during the Maori war at the redoubt at Kerikeri and Drury, and in the Waikato. About 03 years ago he married Miss Charlotte Smith, daughter of Mr and Mrs Francis ■Smith, pioneers of Wairoa, now Clovedon. Mr Martin is survived by his wife, and there are two sons and five daughters. They are: Messrs W. . Martin, of Pntaniru; F. Martin, of Rotorua; and Mesdames L. Scotes, of Dargaville; W. J, Hawkins, of Birkenhead; fj. Bell, of Mokoia; H. Smith, of Woodville; and F. Whitchurch, of liuawai. There are 23 grandchildren and 14 g( ea t-grandchildren. MR ANDREW GUY. He was formerly a member for some years of the City Council and other local bodies. In his earlier years he was In practice as a solicitor and later was engaged in farming.
