DARGAVILLE, This Day.

Whilst’Mrs Charles Powell was engaged in cleaning a carpet with kerosene yesterday, an infant daughter, aged about. 12 months, seized the uncorked bottle and, before the mother could stop it, swallowed a quantity of the liquid.

The child was rushed to the hospital at Te Ko.puru, but died last evening, -

The family has, been most unfortunate. Last winter their home and all their possessions were destroyed, -by fire. Some time previously another child died as the result of an accident.
