REGENT THEATRE

A AIINISTER OF EDUCATION PRAISES ‘ ‘ CONGORILLA. ’'

Parents and guardians will be interested in the remarks of the Hon H. Drummond, ALL.A., Minister of Edm cation for New South Wales, on the subject of “ Congorilla,” the great African picture which commences a season at the matinee at the Regent Theatre tomorrow at 2.15, Mr Drummond, after viewing the picture, wrote vo the press as follows: “May I tako this opportunity of expressing my appreciation of the excellent picture entitled ‘Congorilla,’ with Air and Airs Martin Johnson, which I saw at a private screening at the Fox Theatrette on the 18th inst. This picture was exceptionally interesting and informative, and dealt with aspects of wild animal life and strange people in Central Africa, in a way that causes me to have not the slightest hesitation in recommending it most heartily to those in charge of schools throughout New South Wales. The production of pictures of this character would remove much of the objection at present raised to the attendance of child-

ren at picture screenings. ” I am, yours faithfully, (sgd.) D. H. Drummond, Alinister for Education.

This letter speaks volumes as to tho merits of this superb motion picture offering. Alany so-called African pictures have been made in the Hollywood studios, but it can be definitely stated that “Congorilla” is the only true picture of the dark African continent. Patrons will be amused at the difference between the actual cries of the various animals as heard in “Congorilla,” and the faked noises which they were invested with in previous studio efforts. Gone is all the shrieking nerve-racking foolish noise, and in its place we have the actual audible picturisation of one ton gorillas, lions, hippopotami, rhinoceros, etc., as they really are. Laughter plays a big part, and is supplied by literally thousands of real Pygmies weighing not 70 pounds and ( scarce three feet high. Truly a picture of giant animals and little people. Several newspaper criticisms appear on Page 7 of this issue. The box plans are now open at Blanshard’s. Bookings are heavy and patrons are advised to book early. Permanent reserved seat holders are requested to collect their tickets early, as owing to the demand for seats these cannot be held after 7.50 p.m. on Saturday evening.
