WORKLESS IN ITALY
UNDER MILLION MARK.COMPREHENSIVE SCHEMES. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, September 11. The Rome correspondent of the “Morning Post” says that statistically Italy is the most successful •among the big nations in diminishing unemployment, which now is under the one million mark. She is preparing to keep down the number in the coming winter. Orders have been given to mayors to provide all the extra work possible. Great motor roads are being constructed from Genoa, where new works will make the best-equipped port iu the Mediterranean and the centre of trans-Atlantic traffic to North and South America. .Venice, Florence, Naples, Milan, and other important cities are providing employment for thousands. In Rome at present (1000 men are engaged' in street improvement.
