BANKING RETURNS
. INTERESTING STATISTICS. The summary of the banking returns published in the current issue of “The Australian Insurance and Banking Record’’ shows that the average deposits held by the eleven banks trading in Australia and Now Zealand during, the quarter ended June 20, 1932, totalled £332,372,041. Advances and securities (including Government and municipal securities) for the same period totalled £333,006,355. Reference to the figures under these headings for the June quarter 1931 discloses that at that date deposits were running at £316,079,745,• and advances and securities at £321,036,546. The following are the figures : for the six banks doing busines in New land:—
