TERRIBLE TRAGEDY
' MOTHER AND CHILD DEAD SON’S SKULL FRACTURED. HUSBAND SURRENDERS TO POLICE, (Per Press Association.—Coovrlght.) NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. At 6.30 this morning Hubert Cedric .Tepson, an unemployed man, surrendered himself at the police station, and said that he had murdered his wife and children. The police went to Jcpson’s house, in Prankley Road, and there found his wife and infant son both dead. These were: — Mrs. Lilian Violet Jepson, aged 37. John Robert Jepson, aged 18 months. The other son, Richard Cedric .Tepson, aged 12, was suffering from a badly fractured skull. He was taken to hospital, but is not expected to live. The bodies were found in bed. Both had severe head injuries, and indications were that they were struck with a heavy weapon while asleep.
Jepson, who is a native of Austra* lia, came to New Zealand in 1911, and was employed some years ago by the New -Plymouth Borough Council. He was brought before Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., this morning, and charged with the murder of his wife and son. He was remanded till September 23.
