ACTIVITY REGAINED, (Special to “Northern Advocate.’’) AUCKLAND, This Day. After a quiet period early yesterday morning, business on the local Stock Exchange - brightened up and recent activity was regained. A good list of sales was registered at the 3.15 p.m. call, and fresh ones were added to the list this morning. . At the fresh bidding this morning there was a keener tone in the banking section, with buyers for most of the quoted lines. New Zealands continued the recovery from the recent decline with a sale at £2 2/6, after which holders asked £2 2/9. Commercials were wanted at 13/9 for ordinaries and £6 0/ for the preference. Nationals of Australasia had buyers at £lO and Bank of Australasias at £9 2/6. Insurances -were linn at late rates. Buyers for Pukemiro Collieries moved their limits up to £1 I/, and Westport shares were in request at 8/9. There were buyers for Taranaki : Oils at 1/S, with holders standing out for 2/6. Waihis improved, and after last night’s sale at 14/9 sellers asked 15/. In Government stocks there -were buyers of the 41’s at £93 5/ to £95 10/, according to date of issue, and 51’s were wanted at £99 15/. A parcel of 51’s inscribed ■ (1936) was on offer at £IOO 10/.
