TREATY NEGOTIATIONS
GERMAN—CANADIAN TRADE. (Received 0 a.m.) OTTAWA, June 22. .It is anticipated that a discussion as to the possibility of a trade agreement between Canada , and Germany -will -be initiated later’in'the year. , . It .is intimated in official circles that the. German surtax. recently imposed which affected Canada, was cancelled following upon Canadian representations to the German authorities. New negotiations for a trade agreement are in progress.
EARNEST OF GOOD FAITH. SUPER-TARIFF ABANDONED. (Received 1 p.m.) VANCOUVER, June 2?.. The Trade Board has been advised by the Finance Department that Germany announces that the super-tariff has been dropped against Canadian goods for six months in the hopes of negotiating a trade treaty.
