IMPUDENT THIEF

VAULTS BAR COUNTER,

TILL, RIFLED,

(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, Saturday.

About noon yesterday an impudent theft occurred at a. city hotel, when a man entered the public bar, and when the barman was busy at the other end of the bar vaulted the counter and rifled the till.

The barman at once grappled with him, but the thief was aided by another man, probably an accomplice. If another barman had not come to the first man’s aid ho would have been severely handled.

The two men escaped with the com tents of the till totalling about, £2.
