SEQUEL TO SEANCES

WOMEN MEDIUM CHARGED. SUGGESTIVE REHEARSALS. , (Received 32.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 14. Remarkable evidence was given in a case against a medium. A charwoman jat Laurence Cowcn’s house, at Harrow, jsaid that Mrs. Morris visited the 1 house in 3929. Every evening she jused to go to the library. The charI woman heard Mrs, Morris trying to [imitate a man’s powerful voice and heard Cowen say: “A little bit clearer, my dear.” Cowen later said; “That’s good.” The charwoman thought Cowen and Mrs. Morris were rehearsing a play. Mr. Landstone, the business manager of the Fortune Theatre, gave evidence that he heard Mrs. Morris apparently rehearsing sermons in Cowcn’s room. The statements caused Mrs. Morris, who was in court, to weep bitterly, and to say: “It is dreadful.” Friends tried to sooth her, but Mrs. Morris was finally Jed away protesting. Mr. Steele, once Cowen’s secretary, said that Cowen, used to take Mrs. Morris to his office in the theatre for half an hour. A minister’s voice would then bo heard delivering a sermon. Cowen, who is a dramatist, was frequcntly mentioned in the case. He has been ?nanager of seances at the Fortune Theatre.
