FEDERAL ELECTION
BOOM ON STOCK EXCHANGES. (Received 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The approach of the Federal elections found the stock exchanges in a markedly cheerful mood. There was a general rise in prices, investors taking their cue from the result of the municipal elections. There were steady gains in Australian -consolidated securities to new high closing levels. Banks met with increased favour throughout the State. Rain is hampering electioneering in New South Wales and Queensland. Mjany meetings have been cancelled. Twelve of the last 14 days, in Sydney have been wet.
