Nurse Helen Wills, of the Kawakawa Hospital, was successful in passing tho State maternity examination, held on September 9. The Rev. Jasper Calder of the Auckland City Mission is visiting Whar.garei on his launch the Crusader, v.hich is moored at the Town Wharj. basin.

A visitor to Whangarei today is Mr B, McGill, an old boy of the town. Mr McGill lived with his parents in Ivauika Road and was educated at the Hora Hora School. He is now residing in Auckland.

Among the guests at the Commercial Hotel are:—Mr and Mrs Milward and Mr Milward, Jnr., of Christchurch; Messrs Melville, J. J. L. Rane, Moodabe, Ingram, W. Woods, C. H. Hunt, T. Lahey, J. McDonald, and Mr and Mrs Wyllie, all of Auckland; Mrs Milne and Mr J. Bostock (Kaikohe); M. Whitford (Hamilton), R. J. Stewart (Wellington). Reference to the death of Mr J, W. Hardley was made at the meeting of the Auckland City Council last evening. The Mayor, Mr G. W. Hutchison, said Mr Hardley "was a member of the council from 1921 to 1927, and several members of the present council were associated with him. He moved that the council place on record its regret at Mr Hardley’s death. The motion was carried, members standing in silence.
