OBITUARY

DR. HUGH HUNTER. (Fer Pres* Association. —Copyright./ CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The death has occurred of Dr. Hugli Hunter, aged 71, who for 37 years practised at Ashburton. Formerly he was in Dublin. Mr Thomas Henry Abbott, aged 43, collapsed and died while sitting in a chair at his home in Warren Street, Hastings, last night. He had been ill for .some time and was in active ( service in the War. ME FRANZ EOERING. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) 1 AUCKLAND, Thursday. The death occurred recently of Mr Franz Roering, of Violet Street, Mr Albert, formerly well-known in coastal shipping. Mr Roering was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, 68 years ago. He joined the Navy and came to New Zealand at an early age. For many years he was a captain on the Kaipara boat running - between Wairoa and Helensville. Later he lived at Waihi and more recently at Auckland, MR ALBERT YORKE. Mr Albert Yorke, of Kaeo, who died recently, was born at Forest of Dean, England, over 70 years ago, and came to New Zealand when quite a youth. After working on farms in Taranaki he joined the Mounted Police and was in action when the notorious Maori .chief Te Whiti made his last stand. Mr Yorke went to Kaeo in the early days, and took, part ift the' road-making .throughout the country, and also in the lug bush workings. Ho married Miss Ada Bowyor, who died 29 years ago. Hp leaves three sons and two daugh- , ters.
