Mr Prrpiv.il Pratt, president of tlio Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Geelong, Australia, is visiting Whangarei and is the guest of liis sister, Mrs Inder, Donald Street.
At the request of a deputation, Mr M. IT. Oram, M.A., LL.B., solicitor of Palmerston North, has consented to contest the Palmerston seat ae a United candidate.
At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Wool Brokers’ Association at Christchurch, Mr A. E. Mabin, of Messrs Levin and Co., Wellington, was elected president, and Mr .1. B. Moodie, of Messrs Dalgety and Co., Wellington, vice-president.
Dr Kenneth MacCormick was elected chairman for the ensuing year at the annual meeting of the honorary staff of the Auckland Hospital, and Dr. A. H. Kirker was reappoint ed secretary. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring chairman, Dr. W. A, Fairclongh,
Lord Bledisloe was sufficiently .improved in health yesterday to visit the ground floor of Government House and pass among the staff. He has to walk with the aid of two sticks, and is making a gradual recovery after being incapacitated for the last few weeks. In the afternoon His Excellency, accompanied by Lady Bledisloe, enjoyed a motor run to Island Bay.
The -Rev. W. Bower Black, of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Christ,church, has received a, call from the congregation of St. David’s- Church, Auckland-, which he is considering. Mr Black left Christchurch for Wellington last evening to meet representatives of St. David’s Church, who were to travel from Auckland. Mr Black has been with St, Paul’s congregation, Christchurch, six years and a half, having come from Carterton. .
