BALLOON ADRIFT
ROPE CAUGHT IN SPIRE. CHURCH COLLAPSE FEARED. (Received 10.30 a.m.) PARIS, June 12. An extraordinary incident occurred during the French Air Force manoeuvres at Toulouse, when a captive balloon escaped and drifted over the village of Balma. The guy rope became entangled in the church spire. The strain caused the building to crack extensively, and it was in imminent danger of collapse. Thereupon the evacuation of all neighbouring houses was ordered.
