CHURCH AND STATE
PAPAL MANIFESTO. ACTIONISTS SUPREME. (Received 9 a.m.) ROME, June 11. His Holiness Pope Pius has issued a note to the ‘ ‘ Osservators Romano/ ’ in which he says his utterances to the Cardinals on May 31 regarding the attitude of the Italian authorities towards Catholic organisations has been misunderstood, but it must be repeated that “the Catholic Actionist triovehient will remain and be what if arid the Church have made it. It is under no other supreme authority than its own.”
There are other indications that the Pope is satisfied that the Italian Government ’s expressions of regret for the incidents perpetrated by irreconcilables, and that he accepts the undertaking to make good the damage, but he refuses to accept the Italian Government’s reproof for the political propensities of the Catholic Action' ists.
