HIGH SCHOOL JUBILEE
ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND. NOTABLE VISITORS COMING. Arrangements for the Jubilee of the Whangarei High School are progressing satisfactorily. The organiser, Mr. J. A, MacLeod, who is situated in a special office in Wilson and Baird’s rooms, Bank Street, has preliminary details well in hand. All past pupils whose addresses are known have been circularised, and replies are reported to be coming in well from afield, but not from the local pupils. The executive would be pleased if old pupils in the district would fill in the supplied form, in order that a reliable estimate may be made of the numbers likely to attend the celebrations. It is quite definite that many visitors will be present from all parts of the Dominion.
The Transport Committee has arranged that all trains will be met by cars bearing the distinguishing mark of the High School, for the purposes of conveying old pupils to their destinations.
Among the visitors who have signified their intention of being present are Mr. I?. D, Duxfield, who was appointed headmaster in 1891, and his wife, who is an old pupil. Mr Duxfield will read the school roll with Mr. A. B. Charters, the present principal.
Sir dames Parr will also attend, and will address the old pupils at certain of the functions.
The anniversary church service on Sunday afternoon will be conducted by the Rev. A, J. Grigg, M.A., 8.D., an ex-pupil of the school.
