(From Our Own •Correspondent.) Football Accident. The Tauraroa. footballers were naturally very much distressed on Wednesday when one of their good players, Frank Banks fell heavily while practising and sustained a fracture of both bones of his left forearm, resulting in his now being an inmate of the Whangarei District Hospital. Great thanks is due to Miss Johnstone and Miss Began, who splinted the broken limb and did all possible to ease the pain of the sufferer; also to Mr T. McCullough for the service of his car in taking the lad to hospital. Tho accident is much regretted as the boys were looking forward to the seven-a-side rural Rugby competition which is expected to be played shortly and were practising hard so that they might have tho honour of holding the Herbert Smith Trust Cup again this year. New Road. The road to Oman a now under construction is in a very bad state, as the local storekeeper found out a. while ago when lie had to get a horse and trap to deliver his goods to the camp, - and even the animal and vehicle got stuck in the mud. Bullocks, which are employed hauling’ material for the road,, also get stuck. I School Committee Meeting. |
At the School Committee meeting on Wednesday evening, the chairman, Aft Ali-Kay, expressed sympathy on behalf of the committee with Mr Danks, Sen., concerning the accident which befell his son in the school grounds that day. It was decided io provide cocoa for the children dining the winter, and tc cany out sundry improvements. Sheep Worried. A local resident has lately bad many sheep worried by some troublesome deg. A number of sheep have died and many are badly injured.
