The Whangarei Jersey Cattle Chib was last night granted permission to bold a sale of pedigree cattle at Kensington Park on July 3. Cr. Tibbits recorded his vote against this, stating that the park “should be a public playground, not a place for auctioneers to get money." Or. Jackson pointed out that the sheds belonged to the A. and P. Society, and that the main reason for holding the sale there was for convenience and in. case of wet weather. Later, when the Works Committee's recommendation that three of the borough's nine horses should be disposed of, was carried, it was suggested that the auctioneers at the sale should be asked to sell .them.
