ONERAHI NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) PERSONAL. Among belated Easter visitors to Onerahi. Mr C. C. Fagan eame up from Auckland on Tuesday for a few davs’ Holiday with his own people, and to look up old friends. He was the guest of his mother, Mrs D. W. O. Paean, and left again for the metropolis on Saturday. Miss D. Luptou, of Whangarei, arrived on Friday for a week-end visit. She was the guest of Mr and Mrs -I. H. Hand forth.

After spending a pleasant Eastertide in Auckland as I lie guest of her sister, Mrs H. .1. Curtis returned home on Saturday." A very nice time was spent among friends in the metropolis, and Mrs Curtis has much benefited in health by the change, ROUGH ON COAST. The easterly weather of last weekend made .traffic on tin* coast the reverse of pleasant, and launches and of,her craft were compelled to remain in shelter at Tutnkaka and elsewhere till the Aveafher moderated. The paddle fug Lyttelton, in charge of a large timber-raft from up the coast, put in on Saturday. Dropping her tow at Unpihart’s Bay, she came up to the railway wharf and after replenishing her bunkers, had to remain till Tuesday before picking up her raft, and resuming her voyage to Auckland.

EUCHRE PARTY. It was the night of the final playoff for the aggregate of Wednesday’s euchre party iu the schoolhouse in aid of the school fund, and a good crowd assembled to see the fun. The usual play at the tables was taken first and exciting contests among the enthusiasts evoked much interest among players and onlookers. First prize among the ladies fell to Mrs W. Mason, Senr., while Mrs J. W. Beasley was “booby” Among the men, Mr J. Dunn was the winner and Miss Horn, playing as a man, secured the “booby.” The final play for the aggregate of five nights was a battle royal between Mrs L. V. Scott and Mr J. Mathieson, the prize, a handsome gold-mounted fountain-pen, falling to the latter, with Mrs Scott as a close runner-up. 'Supper was served to the guests and altogether it was a delightful evening.

FOOTBALL. It was an enthusiastic crowd that gathered on the Domain ground on Saturday on the occasion of the match, Onerahi third grade versus Whangarei High School. " The weather was ■bright and sunny and a fair sprinkling of ladies attended. Both sides played well and the game was watched with keenest interest, while partisans cheered the play of their respective teams. School played a splendid game and though Onerahi put up a dour and stubborn defence there was just that want in tactics that gave victory to the visitors. Play closed wih the scores; High School 11 points Onerahi 7.
