WEEK-END ACCIDENTS
BULLET IN JAW, THOUGHT RIFLE UNLOADED. (Per Press Association.—^-Copyright.) OPOTIKI, Monday. A young postal employee, GordoTf Forbes, aged 16, was admitted to the Opotiki Hospital yesterday afternoon with a bullet, in his jaw. At- tho time >f the accident which caused the injury he was with his brother Ree.ee, who is about two years younger, Reece thought that the rifle he was carrying was unloaded, being unaware that Gordon had loaded it immediately before. While the brothers wore in close proximity Gordon pulled the trigger and the bullet entered the side of the nose, lodging in the jaw. under the right ear. Although suffering from, loss, of Mood, th.e patient passed a comfortable night, and' an attempt is to be made to recover, the bullet.

An extraordinary accident, fortunately without serious consequences, was experienced by Doan. G. R. Barnett, of Hamilton on Sunday afternoon. Dean Barnett, who had had an exceptionally heavy day with services in all parts of the parish, was motoring back to Hamilton from Gordonton and when three miles from town- he loaf, consciousness. He recovered to find the ear in a tangle of blackberries in a ditch, 10ft below the level of the road. He scrambled out unhurt, and was able to take the evening's service at the Cathedral.
