Although entries are coming forward in satisfactory numbers for the big Axemen’s Carnival to be held in conjunction with the Winter Show on Saturday, May 17, it is anticipated that by the closing period for entries, May 10, fit 12 noon, the fields in each event will be appreciably large. The prize money offering in both events must surely appeal to axemen and the fact that each contestant will be handicapped according to merit gives every one a fair chance. The 14-inch Standing Chop costs 30/to enter and the prize money is first, £25, second, £6, and third £3, it costs £1 to enter for the 14-inch Underhand Chop and the prize money is £ls, £3 10/- and £1 10/-.
