DISABLED SOLDIERS
A CONCRETE PROPOSAL,
COVERED BY LEGISLATION
(Per Press Association. —Copyright.)
AUCKLAND, This Day
There emerged from this morning’s sitting of the Returned Soldiers’ Rehabilitation Commission the outline of of a scheme which will probably have a .prominent place in the final report of the Commission.
It was suggested by the Chairman. Mr X 9, Barton, S.M., that representative boards should be set up in the four centres to assist disabled men to find avenues of employment suitable to their temperament and aptitude.
Mr Barton said there was legislation, including the Repatriation Act, Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act and Pensions Act, which would enable the Government to set up the bodies ii the centres to co-ordinate and assist in finding suitable avenues of employment.
The chairman, questioned Sir George Richardson, who was of opinion that such, boards should not be composed solely of Government representatives, although some Government representatives should be included.
