COMBATIVE CAMPAIGN MORE RADIUM AVAILABLE. EARLY DIAGNOSIS IMPERATIVE

The National Radium Commission announces that a largely increased supply of radium is about to become, available to the medical profession in the campaign against cancer, but a carefully drawn-up statement warns the public against extravagant, claims and urges people to more readily consult a doctor instead of concealing or disregarding symptoms.

The commission affirms the treatment of cancer, if it is to be successful, whether it makes for surgical excision, cautery, radium or X-rays, must be undertaken early or before dissemination has occurred. The commission reiterates that the essential part of the campaign against cancer consists of education and the intelligent co-operation of the public, so that early diagnosis and prompt treatment can be secured.

There is no proof whatever that cancer is infectious or contagious, and there is no evidence that it is hereditary, except for one rare form of cancer of the eve.
