To remove grease from a kitchen table scrub it with hot water to which half a teaspoonful of whiting has been added. Wipe thoroughly with a clean dry cloth and the wood will be quite white again.

When sewing-machine oil makes a stain on your sewing, rub the mark with lard, allow it to remain on for at least three hours, and wash out with cold water and soap.

If whipped cream is needed in a hurry, half fill a glass' jar with the cream, cork tightly and shake well. Care must be taken not to shake top long or the whipped cream may turn to butter.

Pipeclay well rubbed into white suede gloves is a good method of cleaning them.

To remove tar or grease marks from delicate fabrics, soak a piece of white rag in eucalyptus oil and rub it on the affected part until the stain disappears.

When tropsers are baggy at the knees, turn them on the wrong side, damp thoroughly, and, press, repeating the process until the cloth has shrunk back to its original size.
