SWIMMING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING.

A large attendance, presided over 4»y the: Rev. T. W. Edwards, was present at .the annual general meeting of the Hikurangi Swimming Club. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted, the latter showing a credit balance of £23 4s 4d, an increase of £2O 2s 6d over the balance of the previous year. The number of members during the IS2S-29 season, was 55, comprising 27 men, 4 women and 14 juniors. During the year improvements were effected as follows: —Seating, steps and whitewashing. The club is also the owner of 15 badges valued at 2/0 each and two medals. During the course of his opening remarks the president said it was the duty of all to become members of the club and so provide for the. upkeep of the bath, an institution of vital necessity to the young and old of the district. The club would have the use of the bath from Saturday, November 16. Accounts amounting to £7 19s 7d were passed for payment. It was decided that club nights will be resumed as from Monday, November 25' at 6.30 p.m., when the events will include two and four-length events for men and women, breast stroke (two divisions) and neat diving. The handicapping, judging and starting will be conducted by the Rev. T. W. Edwards and Mr Pomfret. • ELECTION OP OFFICERS. The following officers were duly elected for the ensuing year: —Patron, Mr A. M. G. Ward; president, Bev. T. W. Edw-ards; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Scott, J. Woods, H, Harris, C. B. Gager, S. S. Hawkins, D. E. Young, A. Cadman, G. Davidson and H. .1. Moore Jones; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Ryan (re-elected); committee, Misses J. Cairns, M. Mitchell and O. Harris and Messrs Pomfret, Ansell, Hardie, Cox, C. O’Callaghan Jun., and Dickson with the president and secretary exofficio.
