MEDICAL CLUB MEMBERS
ATTENDANCE BY HOSPITAL DOCTORS. BALA. OBJECTION UPHELD. (Per Press Association. —Copyright.) HAMILTON, This Day. The British Medical Association has been successful in its opposition to a scheme for co-operation between the Waikato Hospital Board and the Huntly Medical Club. The Association objected to the board appointing a doctor to attend club members in their homes as well as in hospital, contending that this would be unfair interference with private practice. A private conference was recently hold by the hoard with Dr. Elliott (President of the 8.M.A.) and Huntly representatives. A report was drawn up asking the Huntly people to revise their scheme to meet the wishes of the Association, Mr. Smith, the Huntly stated at today’s.meeting of the Baord that the people realised it would be impossible to get a suitable doctor against the Association’s opposition. The chairman, Mr. Campbell Johnstone, said he hoped Huntly would make arrangements similar to that at Te Kuiti, the Board subsidising a local doctor for hospital work.
