mg. ’ , Twenty-five men were entombed. Rescue parties, by noon, had succeeded in getting out all but two, whom it is hoped to rescue. One man was found dead and several were severely burned.

The latest information states that two ways of escape by the entombed miners were cut off by the spread of
gas. Two were killed:—Robert Johnson, married, with four children, and Anthony McCoy, married, with one child.
Harry Kitto is still entomßed. It is feared he may succumb. Rescuers are endeavouring to reach him.
